The Ultimate Leadership Journey Case Study

James coached and led The Blue Print Management Group's Call Centre Division, Customcall, on their own 'Mountain of Success', as reward for achieving a major goal. In true Blue Print style the reward was set in the form of a further challenge... to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). Trek As far as challenging environments go, Africa offers something to extend everyone to the edge and beyond their comfort zones.

The team trekked through lush rainforests (read muddy as hell), lunar landscape deserts (read hot and dusty), and glaciers to the summit (read arctic conditions). Described mildly, it's certainly a riot to the senses, sure to push a few buttons and have old ghosts come to visit! During which James coached the team one on one and as a group to build on collective experience and shared learning. The team demonstrated courage in facing their fears and successfully reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Bonded by their unique experience, the team now view each other in ways not possible within the confines of an office environment.

As they allowed their walls to drop, communication improved greatly, they were comfortable showing emotions, being vulnerable and supportive of each other during challenging situations. Out of the combined individual experiences grew something bigger than they were, a new sense of team, a new way of being - their leadership had just moved to higher ground. Presentation to Massai SchoolThe expedition ended on a high note with wildlife viewing in the Serengeti followed by an overnight visit to a Massai village to assist the community. As a co-creation exercise with their clients, Customcall, received generous support from the Westpac Banking Group to help give something back to the school and medical center.

They now have friends in Africa they are committed to supporting. Once back in Sydney, all of the key learning experiences from this 'outer edge' experience were transferred directly back into the workplace. Customcall's vision, values and perpetual growth philosophy were forged into an all encompassing historical record for the company.

After their moving cultural experience, it's no surprise this took the form of a corporate culture video. Film from the Africa expedition supported by footage of all the other staff, back at their Sydney head office was used to tell their unique story. The video has a three-fold purpose; of inspiring and aligning all current staff to become fully congruent with their culture, as a staff induction tool and as a powerful statement of 'who they are' and 'what they do' to present to prospective clients. In essence, the correlating benefits of transformational leadership to the workforce have been profound.

Team members having undertaken a life altering experience, whilst learning state of the art leadership skills now view their work and colleagues with newfound respect. Their filtering patterns and value systems have changed, providing them with a unique framework to review the way they have been operating to take the next step forward in securing the sustainable growth of the company. By focusing on the 'intangible assets' Customcall have been able to stay ahead of their competition through their leadership in meeting their internal and external clients' needs.

Performance Leadership Coaching Case Study

Leadership Revolution are working with Surf Life Saving NSW having run several ‘Emerging Leaders’ programs to equip them with skills to succeed. Using Leadership Revolution's unique Inca Leadership Challenge. Teams embark on a simulated adventure journey where they are constantly challenged, just like in a real Indiana Jones movie. Teams learn about communication, decision making, delegation, conflict resolution, leadership, risk taking and relationship building
